The purpose of this draft is to define what is considered by the Barony of Calafia to be Baronial Property within the boundaries of online social media such as Facebook, Myspace, G+, etc.

All online media pages that represent the Barony, its subsidiaries, or any baronial event within the Barony of Calafia, including but not limited to: Cantons, Colleges, Guilds, Wars, Tournaments/Events and Demo’s shall include as a primary Moderator/Administrator/Owner the seneschal and webwright of the Barony and may include an officer associated with the Canton, College, War, Tournament/Event or Demo within the Barony of Calafia. War and Tournament/Event pages must have the Baronial Seneschal as a primary moderator with full administration rights. These administrative rights include, but are not limited to,

  • the ability to delete posts if deemed to be indecent or threatening, or to misrepresent the Barony, SCA, and/or its officers and members; and
  • the ability to sanction or remove any member who is disruptive.

If a page has been created in an official capacity to represent the barony, it must meet the requirements above. If a page has not been created in an official capacity and thus does not represent the barony, but is an unrelated, personal page, the title must clearly state at the beginning of the page that it is not the official page for the Canton, College, Guild, War, Tournament/Event or Demo. The page will be removed for non-compliance if any of the above requirements are not met.

Even though there will be officially sanctioned online media pages, they are not to be considered an official form of communication recognized by the SCA. The Barony, along with all subgroups, Guilds, Wars and Tourneys will continue to post important announcements via a Group email format such as Yahoo or Google, or on the officially sanctioned webpages.

The Baronial Administrators may, or may not, actively participate or monitor any of the online media pages they are on. Their primary purpose is to facilitate the continuity of ownership due to the transitory environment of our membership; to respond to any issues, concerns or questions that occur; and to ensure that pages follow Baronial and SCA Corporate requirements.

The Barony is in the process of considering the creation of a Baronial Media Officer to help with the management of online media pages; this position would be a deputy reporting to the Seneschal. When this occurs, the Baronial Media Officer will be added to the list of Moderators and Administrators along with the Seneschal and Webwright.

    In Service,

    THL Reina MacCormick

    Seneschal, Barony of Calafia
