Introduction Unto the populous of Calafia, and all ships that inhabit Calafia Bay, do we, Oliver & Kate, Baron and Baroness of Calafia send greetings.

Know that as we look out upon our Bay, we have noticed that for way too long the ships and docks have been woefully inactive. Sails lie furled, the docks empty of life, and the flow of goods, people and knowledge that once surged into our Barony has become a slow trickle. The Serpent of Calafia misses the playful racing against the ships, as well as the songs and companionship that once filled our Bay.

In an effort to help bolster trade, renew interest in all things nautical, and enrich our Barony, Oliver & Kate have decided upon a contest that will last for one year, ending on Winter Arts. This contest will determine which ship will be accorded the title of "Flagship of Calafia" for the following year, with all honors and responsibilities, setting an example for others so that once again the Serpent of Calafia will dance upon the water amongst friends. Throughout the year, there will be opportunities to earn 'Salvage Tokens' through service, arts, teaching & fighting, amongst other avenues. The ship that returns the most Tokens to Their Excellencies at Winter Arts will be granted the title of Flagship of Calafia.

Any ship, regardless of Port of Origin, that wishes to enter the contest must adhere to the rules of the contest, acting within the spirit of our Society by setting an example in dress, manners, teaching, service, arts & fighting; in accordance with the 'persona' of their ship & crew.

Any ship that agrees, giving their pledge to adhere to the rules & spirit of the contest, will be given a Letter of Marque for the duration of the contest as well as an initial investment of Tokens to their Captain.
